Smooth Artist Interviews
How did your new album/single and overall concept for it come about?
I've never really approached a project with an overall concept in mind. I always write music when I am inspired and at times there may be long pauses. During that time, I may be influenced by another style or mood and when the inspiration hits for me to write again, it maybe reflected in that particular style. It all comes from within as an expression of my soul.
What do you find to be the most challenging aspect of recording?
Achieving the overall sound of what is in my head, and being able to translate it to the recording. Many times it can be magical, but other times it can be a persistent approach in searching and listening for the right idea for that particular song.
What inspires you to do what you do?
My overall passion and desire to create music and share it with others.
What elements do you look for in a song that makes it especially satisfying to perform?
Strong melody and groove but more importantly, how the audience reacts to the song.
What are you most proud of at this point in your life and career?
I'm reluctant to use the word proud, but I am very thankful for a successful marriage of 39 years and watching my children grow their families. We are up to three grandkids now and loving it!
Career wise, as we approach retirement my wife and I are grateful to have a good reputation in the building business and real estate investments. Knowing that we have treated people equal, fair and honest gives us a great feeling of satisfaction.
Musically, each time I finish a new project and share with the world!
How do you finish each sentence?
I don't like to go a day without praying and making progress.
